Buddy Bear Project
Join in the effort to raise $2,500 for the Newton Police Department
Buddy Bear Project.
Advantage Credit Union is partnering with the Newton Police Department during the month of July to help raise funds to purchase "Buddy Bears" for childen.
What is a "Buddy Bear?"
A Buddy Bear is given to children by the Newton Police Department during a traumatic event. Many times, officers are called to the home of a domestic abuse situation where childen are present. Other times, officers may be responding to a traffic call or other issue in which the child may be scared of the events happening around them. In these instances, the Newton Police Department officers carry Buddy Bears in their vehicles to help calm the children and keep their minds occupied on a stuffed animal so the police officers can carry on with their duties.
How Can I Help?
The Newton Police Department is hoping to raise $2,500 for the purchase of 300-500 Buddy Bears to continue to offer them to children. Advantage Credit Union wants to help in the effort by matching all donations up to $1,500 in total.
How Can I Donate?
Cash donations may be brought into the credit union during the month of July. We will also accept checks made out to the Newton Police Department which will be presented to them at the end of the month.
